Strengthening
School Communities

School social workers are often the bridge between students, families, schools, and critical support systems. They respond to crisis, promote mental wellness, advocate for student needs, and help remove barriers to student holistic success.

Why School Social Workers Matter

Promote school-wide mental health and wellness through counseling and collaboration with teachers and administrators to foster a positive school culture

Ensure student and school safety by preventing, assessing, and responding to crises at both the root cause and symptom level

Serve as a liaison connecting families to community resources and supports to remove barriers to student success in and out of school

Advocate for students’ best interests to ensure every child is supported and positioned for success

“Because every child deserves not just to survive, but the opportunity to thrive.”

Founded by Tori Leto, this work is grounded in the belief that her growth and success were made possible by those who invested in her and the opportunities she was afforded. She is committed to paying that forward by reinvesting in the lives of others, with a strong focus on supporting youth.

Doing More With Less:
Meeting Greater Needs With Fewer Resources

Across schools, social workers are being asked to do more with less. Limited budgets, rising student needs, and growing mental health concerns leave many school communities stretched thin. When school social workers lack funding, materials, and program support, students feel the impact.

Brighter Times works to change that.

Directing funds toward programs and resources that create immediate impact for students

Building partnerships to increase access to programs and supports for students and families

Access to program frameworks and tools for implementation across school sites
